Goodnight, As The World Turns

"I don't think there should be goodbyes, just goodnights." -Kim Hughes

So, the final episode of ATWT has aired, and I must say, I am sad with the fact that it was over, but a little disapointed with the finale.

FAVORITE PARTS:
-Bob's introduction at the beginning. It was so amazing and perfect that it could've stood alone as the last moment.
-Luke feeling Reid's heart through Chris. So touching and gave us a sense of closure with Luke.
-Kim's quote (at the top of the article). Showed that the show will go on forever in our hearts.
-Everybody's (or almost everybody) happy endings. Made some sort of peace that we knew they were okay.
-Bob's Retirement running parallel with the show's conclusion. Very cool that one of the show's longest running castmates' had some sort of goodbye as the viewers did with the show.
-The last scene. Where the light shone on the globe and it was still turning, gave me chills.

MISSED OPPOURTUNITIES:
-I was disapointed that they didn't do a montage intro of all the different introductions used throughout the years for ATWT.
-I wish we could've been treated to a future glimpse to our Oakdale friends' lives.
-The whole thing felt rushed, it should've been longer than it was.
-I wish Molly, Rosanna, Will & Gwen, and the others; stayed for the finale..

Overall, some of it seemed unorthodox and didn't quite fit for me (Barbara & Henry). However, despite the flaws, it was a pretty cool ending to a great show.

As The World Turns' Final Week

Almost a year ago, we lost Guiding Light to poor viewership (but they had a great fan base that fought til the end to keep the light shining), and now one of the most famous headlines of this past year was the viewers' fight to keep As The World Turns on the air. A losing battle, unfortunatly.

Today it really hit me that this week was the LAST week that ATWT would be on the air... kind of a bittersweet moment that left my heart shattered. If any of you have been keeping up with the show, a lot of stuff has been happening in recent weeks. But the one thing that will keep us tuned in is CarJack's LONG journey back to each other.

Hopefully they will end up with each other again, (as GL did with Reva & Josh) and that the finale will be a grand one. My dream finale would start with a introduction that utilized all the introductions from ATWT's past and we would then be treated to a lot of guest stars, or at least, some memorable moments... However, it depends on the producers.

So, if you viewers are looking for another soap and still are willing to watch on CBS, Maura West (aka Carly Tenney Snyder) will be playing on The Young & The Restless starting early October, so stay tuned for her!!

Here is a video that shows the preview for the final week:

So, join us for the last episode on September 17th, 2010. (AND bring a box of kleenex).

Soap Opera Moments: Reid's Heart (2010)

[Luke (Right, portrayed by Van Hansis) & Reid (Left, portrayed by Eric Stevens) have been a couple since early 2010, and have quickly become another fan-favorite couple from As The World Turns; they are popularly referred to as LuRe.]

So, as many of you LuRe and ATWT fans know, last week (September 3rd, 2010), Dr. Reid Oliver was hit by a speeding train because his car would not move from the train tracks. Reid was trying to rush to Bay City in order to get the heart that was needed to save Chris Hughes' life.

Today, Margo and Tom Hughes received the call that there was an accident, long story short; Luke's facce turned from joking to horrified as he saw Reid's bloody body rushed to Memorial's ER in front of him.

What followed were powerful scenes from Hansis and Katie (Terri Colombino), scenes that are worthy of first Daytime Emmy wins for the two [I'm looking at you Emmys!!]. And their final scene in the room that Reid was in, standing and holding each other was just heart-wrenching.

This breif, but compelling storyline has put ATWT (in my book), back to the good stories, that delt with what many ATWT storylines have delt with, family. This paired with the Barbara Ryan kidnapped by Iris storyline should hopefully earn many Emmy noms for ATWT, including Best Drama; but one can only hope!

What ticks me off most about the whole thing is that Katie and Luke have come through so many romantic roadblocks in the past year, it feels like: "When will they get a break?!"

And it feels like Luke's relationship with Reid was just dangled in front of us and then whisked away, sadly but unfortunatly, irreversable...

You never know what could happen within the next few days, so stay tuned, and hope that Luke will find love again before the show ends!!!
