Goodnight, As The World Turns

"I don't think there should be goodbyes, just goodnights." -Kim Hughes

So, the final episode of ATWT has aired, and I must say, I am sad with the fact that it was over, but a little disapointed with the finale.

FAVORITE PARTS:
-Bob's introduction at the beginning. It was so amazing and perfect that it could've stood alone as the last moment.
-Luke feeling Reid's heart through Chris. So touching and gave us a sense of closure with Luke.
-Kim's quote (at the top of the article). Showed that the show will go on forever in our hearts.
-Everybody's (or almost everybody) happy endings. Made some sort of peace that we knew they were okay.
-Bob's Retirement running parallel with the show's conclusion. Very cool that one of the show's longest running castmates' had some sort of goodbye as the viewers did with the show.
-The last scene. Where the light shone on the globe and it was still turning, gave me chills.

MISSED OPPOURTUNITIES:
-I was disapointed that they didn't do a montage intro of all the different introductions used throughout the years for ATWT.
-I wish we could've been treated to a future glimpse to our Oakdale friends' lives.
-The whole thing felt rushed, it should've been longer than it was.
-I wish Molly, Rosanna, Will & Gwen, and the others; stayed for the finale..

Overall, some of it seemed unorthodox and didn't quite fit for me (Barbara & Henry). However, despite the flaws, it was a pretty cool ending to a great show.

1956-2010.

As The World Turns' Final Week

Almost a year ago, we lost Guiding Light to poor viewership (but they had a great fan base that fought til the end to keep the light shining), and now one of the most famous headlines of this past year was the viewers' fight to keep As The World Turns on the air. A losing battle, unfortunatly.

Today it really hit me that this week was the LAST week that ATWT would be on the air... kind of a bittersweet moment that left my heart shattered. If any of you have been keeping up with the show, a lot of stuff has been happening in recent weeks. But the one thing that will keep us tuned in is CarJack's LONG journey back to each other.

Hopefully they will end up with each other again, (as GL did with Reva & Josh) and that the finale will be a grand one. My dream finale would start with a introduction that utilized all the introductions from ATWT's past and we would then be treated to a lot of guest stars, or at least, some memorable moments... However, it depends on the producers.

So, if you viewers are looking for another soap and still are willing to watch on CBS, Maura West (aka Carly Tenney Snyder) will be playing on The Young & The Restless starting early October, so stay tuned for her!!

Here is a video that shows the preview for the final week:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cyjA4AvYQo

So, join us for the last episode on September 17th, 2010. (AND bring a box of kleenex).

Soap Opera Moments: Reid's Heart (2010)

[Luke (Right, portrayed by Van Hansis) & Reid (Left, portrayed by Eric Stevens) have been a couple since early 2010, and have quickly become another fan-favorite couple from As The World Turns; they are popularly referred to as LuRe.]

So, as many of you LuRe and ATWT fans know, last week (September 3rd, 2010), Dr. Reid Oliver was hit by a speeding train because his car would not move from the train tracks. Reid was trying to rush to Bay City in order to get the heart that was needed to save Chris Hughes' life.

Today, Margo and Tom Hughes received the call that there was an accident, long story short; Luke's facce turned from joking to horrified as he saw Reid's bloody body rushed to Memorial's ER in front of him.

What followed were powerful scenes from Hansis and Katie (Terri Colombino), scenes that are worthy of first Daytime Emmy wins for the two [I'm looking at you Emmys!!]. And their final scene in the room that Reid was in, standing and holding each other was just heart-wrenching.

This breif, but compelling storyline has put ATWT (in my book), back to the good stories, that delt with what many ATWT storylines have delt with, family. This paired with the Barbara Ryan kidnapped by Iris storyline should hopefully earn many Emmy noms for ATWT, including Best Drama; but one can only hope!

What ticks me off most about the whole thing is that Katie and Luke have come through so many romantic roadblocks in the past year, it feels like: "When will they get a break?!"

And it feels like Luke's relationship with Reid was just dangled in front of us and then whisked away, sadly but unfortunatly, irreversable...

You never know what could happen within the next few days, so stay tuned, and hope that Luke will find love again before the show ends!!!

Soap Opera Moments: The Shocking Ruling on Adam Newman's Trial (2010)

Adam Newman's (as seen above by actors: Chris Engen [top] [in wig and dress as Victor's late wife Sabrina, when he is trying to torture Ashley Abbott) & Michael Muhney [bottom]) regin of terror on Genoa City's residents (particularly Ashley Abbott & The Newman Family) over the past few months has probably been one of the most villianous turns on a soap opera since it's peak as a genre. His trial has been long awaited by Y&R viewers for months, and after waiting, we've had to spend the whole week watching the trial and the impact on the witnesses. Then Friday came: The big announcement on whether or not Adam's case would be sent to court.

The retrospective of Adam's life in the first half of the episode was very interesting, to see how Adam's path got him to where he is. And in this, you could see how innocent he was, and how it would be hard to see that he was born evil. Also, the converstation between Nikki and Victor shows how far they have come, and at some points you could see the pain and regret in Victor's face. Since he is infamously known for being highly protective of his family and close friends.

Then, we watch the scene in the courtroom unravel, as the judge discounts each testimony against Adam by the oposing side and the judge consistantly brings up the issue of predjudice with each testimony, while viewers keep waiting for how the judge plans to address Sharon Newman's testimony (regarded by other characters to be the primary testimony that will send Adam to jail).

Then viewers hearts sink as the little boy (Richard Hightower's son) whose father died gets no justice, as the judge rules in Adam's favor... Deeming the oposing testimony as riddled with predjudice. Probably one of the more shocking moments ever on a soap: Adam Newman's reign of terror is left unpunished by the court system. And we are left with a few things:

The hope that Adam Newman's regin of terror won't continue, AND the words that Victor Newman says: "He will carry around the burden of these sins for a long time, and will be punished by not our hand [The Newmans and Abbotts) but by his hand."

And so, one of the most exciting regins of terror on a soap, ends with this ruling. Where Y&R goes next from here, who knows?

1st Annual Soap Opera America Awards

Welcome to the first annual Soap Opera America Awards!! Where the best of the best in CBS Soaps [and those in Llanview!] of 2009-2010 are honored. Eventually, I hope we will be able to honor all the Soaps in future awards. Until then, we will be honoring these soaps; including giving the honorary Helen Wagner Lifetime Achievement Award to Coleen Zenk Pinter (Barbara Ryan) of As The World Turns fame.

Without further ado, let us commence the awards!!

OUTSTANDING VILLAIN/VILLAINESS

The nominees are:

Paolo Seganti, As The World Turns (Damian Grimaldi)
Roscoe Born, One Life To Live (Mitch Laurence)
Michael Muhney, The Young & The Restless (Adam Newman)
Stephen Nichols, The Young & The Restless (Tucker McCall)
Yvonne Zima, The Young & The Restless (Daisy Callahan)

And The Award Goes To: Michael Muhney, The Young & The Restless
-No doubt, Muhney's dasdardly turn on Y&R as sociopath Adam Newman has brought some new meaning to the word Villan, terrorizing over HALF of Genoa City has brought him some big trouble, though recent scenes have brought up the notion that he's back and here to stay.

OUTSTANDING PLOT/STORYLINE

The nominees are:

Brad Snyder’s Death, As The World Turns
Ann Douglas’ Death, The Bold & The Beautiful
Mitch Laurence’s Return, One Life To Live
The Emily/Patty Switch, The Young & The Restless
Tucker McCall’s Revenge on Katherine, The Young & The Restless

And the award goes to: The Emily & Patty Switch, The Young & The Restless
-All of these storylines gave great material for the actors to work with, but this rather far-fetched (but of course when have we known soaps to not defy reality?) storyline was one of the longest-running ones on Y&R in the last year, was one of the greatest storylines of the past year, and showcased how brilliant Stacy Haiduk's acting skills were, and Haiduk redefined the requirements for portraying two different characters with her brilliant turn as Patty Williams and Emily Peterson.

FAVORITE COUPLE

The nominees for this fan voted award are:

Brad Snyder & Katie Snyder, As The World Turns
Carly Tenney & Jack Snyder, As The World Turns
Luke Snyder & Noah Mayer, As The World Turns
Kyle Lewis & Oliver Fish, One Life To Live
Cane Ashby & Lily Ashby, The Young & The Restless

And the award goes to: Carly Tenney & Jack Snyder, As The World Turns
-Longevtivity proved to be a major factor in this race, with CarJack reciving a lot of votes. Their on-again, off-again relationship on ATWT has captivated viewers for more than a decade, and in recent weeks, it seems they will get back together. Let's hope ATWT puts this supercouple back together before the show ends!

OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTOR/ACTRESS

The nominees are:

Ashley Greiner, As The World Turns (Faith Snyder)
Meredith Hagner, As The World Turns (Liberty Ciccone)
Kelley Missal, One Life To Live (Danielle Rayburn)
Christel Khalil, The Young & The Restless (Lily Ashby)
Emily O’Brien, The Young & The Restless (Jana Fisher)

And the award goes to: Meredith Hagner, As The World Turns
-The original portrayer of Liberty Ciccone was delt a tough hand with one incident after another appearing in Liberty's life. And in the hands of another mediocre actor, the scenes would have failed; but Hagner portrayed Liberty brilliantly, that if she were nominated at the Emmys, no doubt she would have won in the younger actress category.

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR

The nominees are:

Van Hansis, As The World Turns (Luke Snyder)
Austin Peck, As The World Turns (Brad Snyder)
Daniel Goddard, The Young & The Restless (Cane Ashby)
Michael Graziadei, The Young & The Restless (Daniel Romalotti)
Greg Rikaart, The Young & The Restless (Kevin Fisher)

And the award goes to: Van Hansis, As The World Turns
-Van Hansis was one of the actors I considered horribly snubbed by the Emmys, even when he was nominated. He delievers so well as Luke Snyder that it is a shock that he has never won! This past year, Luke's emotions have been twisted and confused, and Hansis has shown Luke's confusion and disapointment very well.

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS

The nominees are:

Julie Pinson, As The World Turns (Janet Ciccone)
Marie Wilson, As The World Turns (Meg Snyder)
Betty White, The Bold & The Beautiful (Ann Douglas)
Bree Williamson, One Life To Live (Jessica Buchanan)
Stacy Haiduk, The Young & The Restless (Patty Williams/Emily Peterson)

And the award goes to: Stacy Haiduk, The Young & The Restless
-Betty White and Stacy Haiduk were both among the horribly snubbed actresses at the Emmys. This category was the hardest to decide, since all the actresses delivered such powerful performances, but there was no denying that Haiduk's stint portraying two very different personalities was spellbinding and showed just how talented she is. I hope that some other show takes advantage of her talents, Y&R's loss will hopefully be some other show's gain.

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR

The nominees are:

Jon Lindstrom, As The World Turns (Craig Montgomery)
Michael Park, As The World Turns (Jack Snyder)
Peter Bergman, The Young & The Restless (Jack Abbott)
Doug Davidson, The Young & The Restless (Paul Williams)
Christian LeBlanc, The Young & The Restless (Michael Baldwin)

And the award goes to: Michael Park, As The World Turns
-The two men from As The World Turns had the best material to work with compared to the ones they've been getting in a while. But Jack's year has been unbelievable, and a usually stable Jack had been so emotionally confused, and showed how great an actor Michael Park is. And the fact that he FINALLY won at the Emmys was just the icing on the cake.

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS

The nominees are:

Terri Colombino, As The World Turns (Katie Snyder)
Maura West, As The World Turns (Carly Tenney)
Florencia Lozano, One Life To Live (Téa Delgado)
Tracey Bregman, The Young & The Restless (Lauren Baldwin/Sarah Smythe)
Eileen Davidson, The Young & The Restless (Ashley Abbott)

And the award goes to: Maura West, As The World Turns
-My personal favorites are Tracey, Eileen, and Maura; all fantastic actresses. But I've found that for the longest time that Maura has had the strongest material to work with and over the last few months, has been giving the best performances in many the situations that Carly has gotten in. (Not to demote the performances of the other fabulous actresses) And the fact she recieved her second Emmy award is fantastic as well.

BEST DRAMA SERIES:

We arrive to the final award of the night! And the nominees are:

As The World Turns
One Life To Live
The Young & The Restless

And the award goes to: The Young & The Restless
-All three nominated dramas have had strong years, and have been absolutely great with their storylines. However, even though As The World Turns has had some great moments and we can always count for ATWT to show that family and love trump all, but the fact that they keep adding new faces and focus less and less on the more established actors & actresses has made the show less appealing; One Life To Live had some great and exciting moments this past year as well, but what did them in are their unfinished conclusions for many of them (and kicking off popular couple Oliver Fish & Kyle Lewis didn't help them much as well). The Young & The Restless had a great year, and brought us many exciting storylines and great emotional moments [from Ashley & the others finding out that Faith was Sharon & Nick's daughter to Adam Newman's near escape and his dasdardly plans to Patty's charade of playing Emily to get Jack back]. And it helps that their crop of actors is a great troupe of fantastic performers.

Congratulations to As The World Turns being the top winner with 5 wins & to The Young & The Restless for 4 wins. Be on the lookout for a page on the Helen Wagner Lifetime Achievement Award and details on Colleen Zenk Pinter. Thank you for joining us and see you next year!!

The 2010 Daytime Emmy Awards

Here Are The Winners:

Lead Actor: Michael Park, As The World Turns
-So nice to see Mr. Park finally honored for his work, and I'm not surprised that he won, considering ATWT's upcoming finale.

Lead Actress: Maura West, As The World Turns
-Isn't it awesome that CarJack both picked up Emmys this year? Must say that I had no real idea how this category would go.

Supporting Actress: Julie Pinson, As The World Turns
-Julie is a talented actress, and I am glad that she was recognized for her work. And I am glad that the VERY talented actors and actresses on ATWT are finally getting their dues, considering recent years at the Emmys. And Betty White's non-existant nomination clinched the win for Pinson.

Supporting Actor: Billy Miller, The Young & The Restless
-Both of my favorite soaps dominated in the four main acting categories, so I am thrilled!

Younger Actor: Drew Tyler Bell, The Bold & The Beautiful
-CBS had a great night!!

Younger Actress: Julie Berman, General Hospital
-Berman would go on to pick up her second consecutive trophy in this category.

Writing Team: The Bold & The Beautiful

Directing Team: General Hospital

Drama Series: The Bold & The Beautiful

-I liked the way they showed the montages for the soaps this year, at the end with about fifteen to thirty seconds for each soap. Watch it here. [just click the play button]

No wonder B&B won for its second year in a row, their montage was absolutely fantastic, Even though I am a huge Y&R fan, I must say that the Ann Douglas storyline was so heartbreaking and I almost cried when they showed the scenes. So, our hat is off to you, B&B, congrats from all of us here at Soap Opera America. [the only problem is that Betty White should have been nominated for her work!]

Stay Tuned for the announcement of the Soap Opera America Awards!!

Lately In Oakdale:

Continuing last week's disapointment, Carly urges Jack to move out for the sake of their relationship. (when we know she's covering for Parker).

Parker still feels guilty and Craig sees him more worried than he has reason too, so Craig confronts Carly about Parker. Parker confesses everything to Faith, and she agrees with Carly. When Jack confronts Parker, Parker lies to him. Later, Jack interogates Parker, and Parker comes clean, and Carly walks in just as Jack found out what happened from Parker.

Liberty no longer needs radiation, and she later asks Dusty for help of getting Gabriel's mother's pearls for him to hold. They plan to get this by breaking into his hotel room.

Janet finds Dusty at her new apartment, and he assures her that he's checking up on her. Jack finds out Dusty is the one supplying Janet's inheritance, and he promises Dusty to keep it on the down low.

Janet wants to celebrate with Liberty, and Liberty plans for Janet and Dusty to 'accidently' meet for dinner at the Lakeview. The two decide to start their relationship again, but take it slow this time.

Janet finds Jack at the station, and finds out he is staying overnight. He assures her that this happens to him and Carly many times.

Margo convinces Tom to be Craig's lawyer, and after seeing his sincerity about not hurting Gabriel, the two focus more on the head injury. Lily admits to Margo that Gabriel is Craig's son, messing up Craig's plan he wanted Lily to follow.

Henry makes Barbara forget about her cancer check up results by playing strip poker with her.

Vienna finds herself not pregnant, and decides to have a quick one with Casey at the hospital. Ali sees the two kissing.

Katie markets a date with Chris, and a furious Chris accusing her of still not being over Brad. Chris sets out on a mission to find Katie her perfect man.

Meg finds out that she needs a psych eval before she is able to work as a nurse again. She asks Paul to give her a recomendation, however, he states that he believes she is still not fit. Meg finds Emma right, that when Paul has to choose between her and Emily, he will always choose Emily.

On the way to a mommy and me class, Emily follows a lead; ending in her getting temporarly kidnapped, when she returns to the car, she finds Eliza missing. Emily calls the two, and Meg yells at Emily for not being a better mother. And the three head to the police station where Emma is found with Eliza. Emma is furious but reasures Meg that this could mean that they have a good chance of winning the custody case.

Holden boldly criticizes Molly for meeting with Silas, the two later confront Lily and Silas, respecitivly. Holden hires a personal security team for Lily, and Molly tells Silas to back off. He doesn't listen and sends her lingerie that she gets at WOAK, but hides from Holden.

Lily sees that Luke has some form of feelings for Reid, and he admits that there could be a possibility of this being true. Noah begins to regain his sight, and him and Luke head to the roof. Reid is seemingly jealous of the two's connection. Luke and Noah determine that they could not be the same they were before. The Young & The Restless Update #3 (05/10-05/14)

Here's what happened in Genoa City:

Vitoria and J.T. argue over Reed, and J.T. calls Victoria a bad mother, and Victoria slaps him. Billy tries to cheer Victoria up. J.T. and Victoria attempt a truce until Mac comes in J.T.'s apartment with her key. Victor takes Reed away for a while so J.T. can miss the hearing, after the judge learns of this (through a call from Tucker), she grants full custody to J.T.

Victoria tells Victor to stay out of it. Victor sucker-punches Billy. Billy and Victoria decide to take a trip to Jamaica. Victoria dislikes the accomidations, but the two end up going to a wedding, and after a few drinks end up being married.

J.T. and Mac kiss. They wonder if it was just the spur of the moment. The two take Reed on a night out and after Reed falls asleep the two kiss again.

"Emily" and Jack reunite, while Paul and Heather find that Patty has run off. Jack decides to push "Emily's" buttons. The three find that "Emily" is Patty and Jack begs Patty to tell him where Emily is, to which Patty solemnly replies "it's too late." Jack finds Emily before the mortician can cut her open, and finds that Emily is still alive. (YAY!) Patty threatens suicide to end everyone's suffering. Emily tells Patty she is sorry for betraying her trust with Jack, and Patty breaks down and finally ends her charade. Emily faints and Jack runs with her in his arms to get an ambulance. Emily decides that her and Jack rushed into marriage and says she won't go home with him.

Tawny (Amber's mother) arrives demanding to know where Amber and Eric are, if Daniel and Phyllis don't tell her, she treatens to call the police. Phyllis threatens Tawny to leave and call the police on grounds of child endangerment and neglect. Phyllis later admits to see Amber in a new light.

The mortician starts to autopsize "Jane Doe," (Emily) and Emily is aware of this, yet she can't wake up physically.

Olivia tells Cane and Lily about a stem cell treatment that puts the babies at risk. Mac couldn't imagine allowing this. Cane and Lily are still unsure, when Neil and Malcom arrive, the two get into a fight, stressing Lily out further. Jill asks Olivia of her "aunt" opinion and Olivia says she believes it best if Lily enters the trial.

Malcom tells Tucker he cannot be his mole due to problems it has created between him and his family.

Sharon, Michael, Nick, and Phyllis all wonder if Patty was Adam's accomplice and his murderer. Chance finds Patty at the courthouse and deduces that she helped Adam. Sharon, Michael, and Phyllis all confront Patty at the courthouse but all they find out is of her and Sarah's plans to murder Michael and Phyllis. Paul tells the three to leave Patty alone. Phyllis determines that only Lauren could talk to Patty because Patty does not know that Sarah is dead. EMMY NOMS 2010: WHAT WENT WRONG & WHAT WENT RIGHT

HERE WE GOO..................

OUTSTANDING DRAMA SERIES:

All My Children, ABC
The Bold And The Beautiful, CBS
General Hospital, ABC
The Young And The Restless, CBS

-So, ATWT or OLTL had no chance because of failing ratings? I really wish that both had recieved nominations, because both were great with storylines. Whatever, the real winner will be (IMO) Y&R, because of fantastic storylines, great acting, and the ability to make me keep watching every week with suspense... all equate a great soap.

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES:

Sarah Brown, General Hospital, ABC
Crystal Chappell, Guiding Light, CBS
Bobbie Eakes, All My Children, ABC
Michelle Stafford, The Young And The Restless, CBS
Maura West, As The World Turns, CBS

-Knowing that the Emmys should have given a nom to Teri (Katie, ATWT) [and she would have been the frontrunner of this race, but i guess episdoes recently have not given Teri the chance to shine], and the performances of West and Stafford (and the limited material of Chappell); I'll assume that with the Emmy love for GH, it'll probably go to Sarah Brown.

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES:

Peter Bergman, The Young And The Restless, CBS
Doug Davidson, The Young And The Restless, CBS
Jon Lindstrom, As The World Turns, CBS
Michael Park, As The World Turns, CBS
James Scott, Days Of Our Lives, NBC

-This category is better than the similar Female category this year!! (which I always think is the most exciting category..) I am so happy to see ATWT and Y&R love!!! This is difficult for me to pick, but if I had to narrow it down to two, it would be Davidson and Lindstrom based on their powerful performances. With Davidson winning by a hair, he is very talented, but i wouldn't mind Lindstrom winning, either.

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES:

Beth Chamberlin, Guiding Light, CBS
Carolyn Hennesy, General Hospital, ABC
Julie Pinson, As The World Turns, CBS
Bree Williamson, One Life To Live, ABC
Arianne Zucker, Days Of Our Lives, NBC

-I am pleased overall, but I do believe that Betty White (Ann Douglas, B&B) and Stacy H. (Patty/Emily, Y&R) were SEVERLY snubbed, both turned in great performances and if Stacy had gotten nominated, she would be the frontrunner for sure. My top two would be Williamson and Pinson, since I've seen and know both the characters' storylines, but if it were a year for Pinson to get it it would be this year, because she had a great emotional ride with Janet.

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES:

Bradford Anderson, General Hospital, ABC
Ricky Paull Goldin, All My Children, ABC
Jonathan Jackson, General Hospital, ABC
Brian Kerwin, One Life To Live, ABC
Billy Miller, The Young And The Restless, CBS

-WHERE IS KEVIN FROM Y&R?! HE HAS GIVEN A FANTASTIC.... OH WHATEVER. I was also shocked that Van Hansis (Luke, ATWT) had not recieved a pre-nom... if it was any year for him to win, this would have been a good one... WHATEVER. After watching a breif clip of Anderson on GH, I'd say that he'd had the category in a lock-in, but I think Kerwin could give him a run for his money.

OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES:

Julie Berman, General Hospital, ABC
Molly Burnett, Days Of Our Lives, NBC
Shelley Hennig, Days Of Our Lives, NBC
Christel Khalil, The Young And The Restless, CBS
Marnie Schulenburg, As The World Turns, CBS

-I SINCERLY THINK KHALIL SHOULD WIN. She has been fantastic and it would be a shame for her to lose... (I also think CBS made a big mistake of not nominating Meridith Hagner (ex-Liberty, ATWT) for her performance)

OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES:

Drew Tyler Bell, The Bold And The Beautiful, CBS
Scott Clifton, One Life To Live, ABC
Zack Conroy, Guiding Light, CBS
Drew Garrett, General Hospital, ABC
Dylan Patton, Days Of Our Lives, NBC

-I don't know much about the nominees in the category, but if I had to take a guess based on the material I HAVE seen, I'd say that Clifton had the best chance of winning.

WHO DO YOU THINK SHOULD WIN? COMMENT BELOW.

Jack finally realizes Emily is Patty and confronts her, after she reacts as Patty would towards a "stray" cat that Jack has adopted. Jack tells Paul that Patty was masquerading as Emily. And Heather reveals that the DNA test proved that "Patty" is Emily. Patty goes to the hospital and injects Emily with medicine, and drops her off at the mourge labeling her as "JANE DOE."

Charges against Nick were dropped, then those against Victor were dropped, then evidence was shown that Adam accused Nick of murdering him on a recording on his cell phone. On Friday, Adam tells us that if Sharon had come with him, things would have been different. (sure...) Sharon and Phyllis determine that Adam might have set Nick up; and Adam ends with saying that he has gotten away with the perfect crime. (we'll See!)

As The World Turns Update #1 (04/26-04/30)

Here's what's new in Oakdale:

Gabriel decides to fly Liberty home, Parker goes through Gabriel's things, not trusting him; Liberty & Gabriel catch Parker going through Gabriel's things. Dusty shows up at Rocco's funeral, he and Eddie have a confrontation, and he punches Jack with a punch intended for Eddie. Janet breaks things off with Dusty, and Jack and Janet leave at once. Carly asks Craig for money, and Craig gives her the runaround saying that Ellis ran off with their money. Craig finds the location of Ellis and Carly follows.

Ellis runs away. Craig tells Carly that Ellis made a bad investment with Monte Carlo money, and assures her that he will make it right. Liberty tells Carly that she's worried about Parker's obbsession with her and that he broke into Gabriel's room. Parker tries to buy a gift for Liberty, but finds that his trust fund is drained. He confronts Gabriel at Monte Carlo and punches him. Gabriel hits his head on a desk and a scard Parker flees. Meanwhile, Craig decides to burn down Monte Carlo for insurance money. Molly gets upset with Holden after he must leave to help Lily again. And Molly responds slightly to Silas' advances. Lily calls Luncinda to discuss a 20-year old secret they kept with Sierra, and we find out that Gabriel is Craig's son through Lydia Carras.

Parker goes to the police station to report that Craig had been stealing his money, but finds that there is a fire at Monte Carlo. He rushes over and pushes the fire department to keep looking until they pull out a wounded Gabriel and rush him to the hospital. Luke and Reid hang out, and kiss almost twice, but both are interrupted, the second by a phone call from Noah. Luke finds out about Noah's surgery, and blasts Reid for not telling him. Luke goes home to find Noah there and consoles him about the surgery the next day. Lily and Luncinda fight over whether or not to tell Craig, they learn from Faith that Gabriel is in the Hospital, and Lily rushes over and confesses to Craig that Gabriel is his son.

Meg, Emma, Holden, Emily, and Paul all attend a hearing for Eliza's guardianship. Meg makes a call (annonomusly) to Emily's newspaper reporting that her release resulted from family bribes. Emily follows the lead, missing the trial; where it was determined that nothing should change until 30 days, where they will re-evaluate the case. Craig furiously forces Lily to tell him the whole truth. Parker tells Carly the whole story about what happens and Carly tells Parker to not tell anyone else. And Craig talks to Gabriel (while Gabriel is unconcious).

Luncinda finds out that Lily told Craig and stops Lily from telling Holden. Luncinda heads to Craig's to sort out the mess, and ends up being strangled by Craig. Luncinda rushes to the Farm to tell Holden she fears for Lily and the kids' safety. Janet and Liberty have a heart to heart and discuss their current situation, and decide to find a place of their own. Carly continues to protect Parker, despite Jack's curious questions. Margo tells Jack that the fire may not have been an accident, and that Gabriel was unconcious before the fire, and Margo puts Jack in charge of the investigation. Parker overhears their converstation.

My Picks for the 2010 Daytime EMMY for Best Drama Series

MOST LIKELY TO SECURE A NOMINATION:
1. The Young & The Restless, CBS
2. One Life To Live, ABC
3. General Hospital, ABC
4. As The World Turns, CBS

I have no idea how they are gonna go this year in terms of the number nominated, I'm going to guess they will either follow suit and continue the '3' nominations, or they might go the route of having four nominated. Nevertheless, here are the three that I think probably will warrent nominations this year.

AS THE WORLD TURNS, CBS
Oakdale residents may not have had a ritzy, glitzy year as they’ve had in years past; but the storylines that were on ATWT this year have been better than they were, and especially Brad’s death and Jack & Janet’s marriage breaking up have brought the best scenes in a while… Plus, ATWT should at least deserve one last nomination (although, I don’t understand why Guiding Light didn’t get it’s due last year). Plus, in recent weeks, the drama has turned up, and ATWT has begun a return to form.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, CBS
Genoa City has been struck with despair and shock, plus Y&R seems to always have the best scenes and storylines. The actors were great, and the storylines were clever!! And the drama is heating up, and Y&R is definatly getting good storylines in.

ONE LIFE TO LIVE, ABC
Even though I saw only about a month of OLTL, (not including this past week), It has been a pretty compelling story with the residents; and the portrayal and support of Gay and Lesbian people on the show was absolutely incredible (despite writing off 'Kish" soon). OLTL went out on a limb and could possibly nab a nomination.

GENERAL HOSPITAL, ABC
I’ve only seen bits and pieces of GH’s recent season; so I have no clue what could possibly give them a reason to be nominated.. However, I’m taking chances and going with an Emmy favorite.

THE FOLLOWING IS A RESULT OF NOT HAVING CO-BLOGGERS TO HELP ME COMPILE THIS KIND OF LIST... HOPE THAT CHANGES SOON!!

WHY OTHERS MIGHT NOT GET NOMINATED:
(I WISH NO ILL TOWARDS THESE CONTENDERS, JUST STATING OPINION)

DAYS OF OUR LIVES, NBC
Again, I have no clue why they might not get nominated.

ALL MY CHILDREN, ABC
Same. (But I’ve heard it’s getting good!)

THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, CBS
It just seems really blah lately, but that storyline with Betty White’s character’s (Ann Douglas') death was SOO good (what I saw of it).

GUIDING LIGHT, CBS
I don’t think it’s possible, since there’s so little to be nominated, but you never know!

ATWT--DAYTIME EMMY AWARDS, WHO (& WHY) SHOULD BE NOMINATED

**Detonates actor/actress received pre-nomination

MAURA WEST as Carly Tenney **(Outstanding Lead Actress)
As The World Turns
Besides recovering from alcoholism, West has received great scenes regarding Carly finding out about her sister Rosanna being with Craig, and her disappointments and frustrations with not being able to express her true feelings about her ex-husband Jack.

JAKE SILBERMANN as Noah Mayer
As The World Turns
Dealing with Luke’s jealousy, and the fact that Luke (and Damian) have driven Noah to his current blindness, have left Noah a mess, and Silbermann’s portrayal of Noah has been one of his best during his stint on ATWT, and his performance is defiantly Emmy worthy.

VAN HANSIS as Luke Snyder
As The World Turns
Luke has been up and down this past year and has gotten great emotional scenes, especially the recent emotional break up between Like and Noah.

ASHLEY GREINER as Faith Snyder
As The World Turns
Faith has gone through a lot, considering that she ASKED to go to boarding school, Greiner has perfectly portrayed Faith for who she was: lost, confused, and scared; the fact that her dad was dead, then back to life and her parents broke up, brought out the best in this character.

CADY McCLAIN as Rosanna Cabot **(Outstanding Supporting Actress)
As The World Turns
McClain has previously won before for her role of Dixie on All My Children and for her role of Rosanna on ATWT; she is such a fantastic actress, she showed such gut-wrenching emotion when Rosanna called off the wedding because she couldn’t deny that Craig still loved her sister Carly.

TERRI COLOMBINO as Katie Peretti Snyder **(Outstanding Lead Actress)
As The World Turns
Colombino was so great this past year in portraying Katie, after losing her husband, best friend, and all hope; Colombino showed us the Katie we all know, and was able to come back to life, and along the way had shown some great emotional scenes. Defiantly one performance WORTHY of winning the Emmy.

AUSTIN PECK as Brad Snyder **(Outstanding Supporting Actor)
As The World Turns
Everyone loves Brad; he’s funny, smart, a wise ass, and many more.. So it came quite a shock to many ATWT when Brad was killed off; but we have not seen Brad so vulnerable has he has been over the past year, despite being a ghost, Peck DELIVERED the perfect amount of emotion for his scenes.

KELLY MENIGHAN HENSLEY as Emily Stewart
As The World Turns
Emily’s search for a baby brought her to emotional despair, happiness, and loss. Hensley brought us a different side to Emily, one that wanted to start a family, and was willing to do anything to get it.

MARNIE SCHULENBURG as Alison Stewart **(Outstanding Younger Actress)
As The World Turns
Alison almost got married, almost got killed, cheated on her fiancé, and discovered many secrets along the way; Schulenburg was perfect as Alison and showed us how much Alison has grown up; delivering us a perfect Emmy worthy performance.

MEREDITH HAGNER as Liberty Ciccone
As The World Turns
The ‘old’ Liberty (Hagner) has had to deal with the brunt of the character’s emotional baggage; suffice it to say, losing a baby she didn’t want, getting leukemia, losing her father, and watching her mother’s marriage fall apart has brought Hagner many, MANY emotional scenes and she should defiantly be nominated this year.

JULIE PINSON as Janet Ciccone Snyder **(Outstanding Supporting Actress)
As The World Turns
No matter how much you may hate Janet, her year has been pretty much the same as Liberty’s and the emotion we see in Pinson’s portrayal of a mother trying to keep her family together is all but too real and Pinson gives us emotion that we can’t forget.

MICHAEL PARK as Jack Snyder **(Outstanding Lead Actor)
As The World Turns
Shooting his own brother, Jack became such a wreck, and Park hit the jackpot; as Jack had emotional Emmy worthy scenes almost weekly. Park is a fantastic actor, and this year might be his year to strike gold.

TOM PELPHREY as Mick Dante (AKA ‘James Stenbeck’)
As The World Turns
In probably the weirdest plot twist to hit Oakdale, we met an off-the-wall guy (to put it nicely), named Mick. Through Mick’s journey, we came to see how Pelphrey won those three Emmy awards for his role on Guiding Light. The portrayal of Mick was probably not an easy one, but Pelphrey pulled it off.

MARIE WILSON as Meg Snyder
As The World Turns
Watching Meg fly off the wall and watch Damian tear her sanity down was one of the more frustrating moments of watching ATWT; However, we saw Wilson bring a new aspect to Meg, and she gave us an unforgettable performance in doing so.

BILLY MAGNUSSEN as Casey Hughes **(Outstanding Younger Actor)
As The World Turns
Casey has dealt with a lot of crap over the past year in Oakdale, and Magnussen has given us some powerful performances, and shown us that Casey Hughes is now grown up.

OTHER PRE-NOMINATED ACTORS:

JON LINDSTROM as Craig Montgomery **(Outstanding Lead Actor)
TRENT DAWSON as Henry Coleman **(Outstanding Supporting Actor)
MICK HAZEN as Parker Snyder **(Outstanding Younger Actor)

Y&R--DAYTIME EMMY AWARDS, WHO (& WHY) SHOULD BE NOMINATED.

**Detonates actor/actress received pre-nomination

DOUG DAVIDSON as Paul Williams **(Outstanding Lead Actor)
The Young And The Restless
Davidson’s defining moments as Paul were really when “Patty” was in the coma, and he was at a loss, in the weeks that followed, Davidson showed raw, gut wrenching emotion.

STACY HAIDUK as Patty Williams and Dr. Emily Peterson **(Outstanding Supporting Actress)
The Young And The Restless
Dual roles on soap operas are so entertaining to watch, and are pulled off well by talented actors, and Haiduk is talented; portraying Patty Williams so well with an eerie sense of danger, and Emily’s journey is also well portrayed too.

PETER BERGMAN as Jack Abbott **(Outstanding Lead Actor)
The Young And The Restless
Jack’s storyline this year with Patty, and falling in love with Stacy has shown the tender side of Jack, and we see the other side when he lashes out after Jabot was bought by the Newman family. Bergman shows a great range of emotion in Jack’s characterization.

EILEEN DAVIDSON as Ashley Abbott
The Young And The Restless
Davidson is such a talented actress, she’s one of my favorite soap stars. That said, Ashley had quite an ordeal this past year; the fiasco with the babies and then losing her trust in Adam, feeling quite insecure with her own sanity, and then finding that her baby might not be hers; Davidson conveyed her character in the right manner, I wouldn’t be surprised to find her nominated at the Emmys.

SHARON CASE as Sharon Newman **(Outstanding Lead Actress)
The Young And The Restless
Sharon has had the ups and downs of a typical soap female; and Case has been brilliant in her portrayal of Sharon. The upcoming episodes of the “Faith’s maternity” storyline will no doubt bring us more great emotion.

MICHAEL MUHNEY as Adam Newman (Adam Wilson)
The Young And The Restless
Adam is defiantly a sociopath (mentioned quite a few times by different characters in the show), and Muhney’s portrayal of Adam is really on target and a strong representation of his talent.

MICHELLE STAFFORD as Phyllis Newman **(Outstanding Lead Actress)
The Young And The Restless
Phyllis has had quite a year: dealing with Sharon/Nick, her son’s (false) imprisonment, her own relationship, the loss of Sharon and Nick’s baby, and Adam’s lies. You may not like Phyllis, but you got to admit: Stafford is one hell of an actress, she shows so many sides of Phyllis in so many situations.

MICHAEL GRAZIADEI as Daniel Romalotti
The Young And The Restless
Daniel has had an arduous year, his imprisonment scenes brought out the best in the character.

TRACEY E. BREGMAN as Lauren Fenmore Baldwin
The Young And The Restless
Lauren’s been through some tough stuff recently on Y&R, and Bregman has shown the best in Lauren’s scattered side; and the current storyline with her and Paul is defiantly going to bring some good material to the table.

CHRISTIAN LeBLANC as Michael Baldwin
The Young And The Restless
Michael’s stress level has increased in recent weeks on Y&R, and it’ll no doubt increase in following weeks. LeBlanc is perfect in orchestrating the role of Michael, emotionally and giving us more depth into the character.

VANESSA MARANO as Eden Gerick
The Young And The Restless
Eden’s had a hard year, and has shown us great development in the character, with Marano’s great portrayal of the character.

YVONNE ZIMA as Daisy Sanders
The Young And The Restless
If you hate Adam, chances are you also hate Daisy. No denying, Zima’s portrayal of Daisy’s sinister nature is defiantly bone-chilling.

DANIEL GODDARD as Cane Ashby
The Young And The Restless
Goddard has given us great performances as Cane, and his emotional levels were tested with many frustrating storylines, and Goddard passed with flying colors.

CHRISTEL KHALIL as Lily Winters Ashby **(Outstanding Younger Actress)
The Young And The Restless
Khalil is so lovable as Lily, everyone (or most everyone) loves Lily; however, that dang cancer storyline has brought Lily (and most of the Y&R audience) to tears.

JEANNE COOPER as Katherine Chancellor Murphy **(Outstanding Lead Actress)
The Young And The Restless
Cooper is brilliant with Katherine, hard to believe she won her first competitive Emmy in 2008! However, Katherine was faced with many obstacles and the biggest: Tucker is her son (insert "gasp!"), has brought Katherine to emotional ends, don’t be surprised to see Cooper nominated. (Glad to see that one of the senior cast members of a soap still gets regular face time, BTW).

ELIZABETH HENDRICKSON as Chloe Mitchell **(Outstanding Supporting Actress)
EMILY O’BRIEN as Jana Fisher **(Outstanding Younger Actress)
